Wake up call!

I rode the bike in this morning. It was great. Not too cold, but brisk enough to wake me right up! The ride was easily worth 2 cups of coffee.
The only drawback is I have to figure out how to deal with helmet-hair :-)
It is a different packing challenge as well. I really didn’t want to lug my riding boots around all day, so I had to figure out how to get my iPad, shoes and a couple of other small items into either my coat or the small side bag. I did it!

Motorcycle Coffee Drive
The Todd and I headed out for a nice ride around the neighborhoods near work, and headed to Starbucks for some Sunday morning chat and coffee. A fun ride!
His bike looks pretty darn cool, and it sounds like thunder rolling down the road. I was hanging back and watching as we passed pedestrians, and their heads spun around to see what the hell was making all the noise. :-)
As far as my riding, I’m feeling more comfortable on the bike and in traffic. I’ve been focusing the last couple of rides on the throttle and take offs. No reason to be afraid of it. Of course, in the riding course, we have to take off slow and easy, and half the time, the person in front of us just stalled, so it breeds in a little throttle hesitation.
I have to leave the beast for a few days, traveling up to Wilmington, DE for work. But if I’m not too shagged when I get back, I’ll take it into work on Friday.
Enjoy!

Motorcycle Morning Ride To The Lions

I went on my first 'long' ride this morning. Up early, just as the sun was coming up, I headed down the coast on A1A to St. Augustine and across the beautiful bridge of lions.
It was a wonderful morning, partly cloudy and cool. For the most part, I had the roads to myself, except for some graceful pelicans floating along the beach, and the occasional cyclist.
The bike performed great, and I got more practice getting used to the throttle.
There is something wonderfully invigorating rolling on the throttle at 55 and feeling the bike take off.
It roars down the road with authority!
The only adventurous part was a need to make a fuel stop. As I was heading back, the little amber fuel light came on. I know there is one station at the southern end of the drive, and I was pretty sure I hadn't passed it. Fortunately I was correct.
Right on the ocean front, the gas station is a way station for cyclist and jogger's heading up and down the coast. A couple of dollars later, a good stretch and a chat with some cyclists out on their weekend ride, I was back on the road.
It was ending too quickly, so once back to jax beach, I drove around the quiet neighborhoods and enjoyed the morning.

Mission accomplished. The new jacket is broken in, the bike has had a good drive, and I've put in my first tank of fuel.
Till the next time.
Enjoy!
