RestoreMeNot

Tech Tip

Thank you, Brett Terpstra! I was having some trouble with his terrific Marked utility after upgrading to Lion. Every time I tried to open a document in Marked, it would open with 6 or 7 previous docs, and crash when I tried to close them.

After a quick chat with Brett, he let me know he has a fix in the next release, and recommended I try RestoreMeNot.

Great utility! It lets you disable window resolution for individual applications. The window restoration feature is a great enhancement to Lion, but being able to turn it off for individual apps is a great help.

All is well again at this end.

Enjoy!

Rally Rogue Windows Windows

Move Screenshot

At work, I use a windows laptop. It's normally docked on my desk and I have large secondary monitor attached. So, of course anytime I use the laptop undocked, half of my apps/windows are lost on the missing monitor.

I end up doing this at least 10 times a week. And for some reason, I frequently have to google to find the trick again.

Here is a great explanation, with plenty of screen shots, showing how to bring those rogue windows back to the desktop.

Indent That Dang Vim File!

Here's another of those insanely handy vim tips. To indent an entire file, gg=G.

That's all there is to it.

gg goes to the top of the file.

= is the indent command, and

G goes to the end of the file.

Before

After

Just to handy and cool for words.

Enjoy!

Shuffle TV Shows in iTunes

Shuffle

I found this very helpful post on the Finer Things.

If you are playing TV Shows and wonder why they don't play continuously or shuffle as expected, select them all and have a look at the info (File > Get Info). Unselect or set the 'Skip when shuffling' option to No.

That should do it.

Enjoy!
